CHAIRS AND AIRS

Brody, Surfing on top of his closest family and friends.

The Hora is one of those moments that can get away from you fast. One minute everyone’s clapping in a circle, the next someone’s being hoisted onto a chair, and then another, and suddenly there’s a kid flying through the air and you’re trying to keep your focus sharp while the whole room goes sideways.

What I love about these photos isn’t just the amplitude, it’s the look on people’s faces. The mix of pure joy and “how did I get up here?” The chairs give you that lifted-up feeling, like the whole family’s being celebrated at once. But the throws, the lifts, that’s where the real unpredictability lives.

You’ve got to be ready. The lighting’s usually all over the place, the movement’s constant, and you don’t get a second chance at the perfect moment. But when you catch that split second of someone suspended between the floor and the ceiling, it feels like you bottled a little bit of the celebration itself.

Ohh and if you’re reading this and grew up in the 90’s or earlier can we bring out the table cloths again?
