Not for Profits

Omer Shem Tov. The most happy go lucky person I’ve encountered. And that’s after 505 days in Gaza’s tunnels, having endured the worst and somehow keeping that light.

These are the jobs I say yes to because they matter, not because they’re easy.

Since October 7th the work has picked up, and so has the reason for it. Antisemitism in Melbourne didn’t start that day, but it’s been louder and closer to home ever since. Many organisations, Jewish based or not have been trying to raise awareness and keep people showing up. I’ve been photographing those events. WIZO, UIA, MDA, Courage to Care, the Holocaust Museum, March of the Living and others that sit outside the community as well. Same job as a simcha, just a different room: stay out of the way, come home with photos they can actually use.
